It was a quaint little town clearly relying on tourism, mostly locals. Narrow, fairly winding streets. Some nice restaurants, but fairly expensive. Generally friendly service. Characterful large seaside village an hour by direct train from central Barcelona. Nice sandy beach, plenty of choices of bars and restaurants - some of excellent quality. Still has a feeling of community - doesn't 'die' in the off season. Much smaller and quieter than nearby resorts such as Arenys and Calella. Very little noise at night - main road runs behind the village. Town is not crowdy which is BIG advantage- at least for my familly. But even though you have everything you need- supermarket, cafeteria, small shop open till late night hours etc. Moreover San Pol de Mar is very safe and people are very adorable.
