Commonly known as just Freiburg, Freiburg im Breisgau is equally popular under a different name: the Jewel of the Black Forest. Located at the foot of the Schlossberg hill in the Baden region, the city is best known for its 15th-century university and local vineyards.

    Spent 3 nights in freiburg,although the weather wasn't the best,there is alot to do,loved the wine bar on the markplatz,the church was truly anazing,was, easy to get around,did a hike in schlossburg,which i highly tecommend

    The old town is gorgeous, really characterful.

    The old town is gorgeous, really characterful. We loved the market square - if you like cheesecake, Stefan's Cheesecakes are definitely a must-have. We particularly enjoyed visiting the church. If you can manage the stairs, the view from the top is amazing, and being able to see the bells close up is great. Walking up Schlossberg (or taking the funicular, though it only goes part-way up) is also a must-do, particularly to go up the Aussichtsturm Schlossberg: terrific views. You could easily spend two full days exploring this city at a relaxed pace. Plus there are great walks within a short driving distance.

    Lovely city with a nice buzz to it.

    Lovely city with a nice buzz to it. Good for a dedicated few days or as a base for Black Forest trips. No shortage of varying restaurants. We used the regular and reliable rail system to get around but I would recommend having your own transport if you are wanting to get off track in the Black Forest.

    The wooden edge of the beds are very uncomfortable, I kept hitting my legs when getting in and out of bed, perhaps the edges should be covered at least with a sheet. We managed to visit the old, medieval city centre of Freiburg, it is beautiful! The Munster Freiburg Cathedral dated back since 1200, is worth to visit.

    I stayed in room 307. Larger than I expected with extra bedding if required. Well stocked vending machine. I liked the idea of no room key, using a keypad to gain entrance to the hotel after hours and room. The location was good for the nearby autobahn. Plenty of car parking. Walking distance from McDonalds, KFC and Burger King. 20 minute walk to Freiburg football ground. 3 minute walk from the bus stop.

    Hotel staff super friendly. Breakfast was great and dinner in the restaurant was delicious. We were given a huge family room including two bedrooms and a sitting room. We were very comfortable and throughouly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful hotel just outside of Freiburg. Very convenient if you would like to explore the Alsace region and the Black Forest

    Good hotel in a convenient location in Freiburg. Comfy bed, enough space, good bathroom. Did not try the in-house breakfast. Had a room to the courtyard which was quiet at night. Just 5 mins walking to the Freiburg downtown core. Definitely a good setup and to be repeated when in Reibung again…
