The Historic Heart of Moravia

The 2nd largest Czech city, Brno is a centre of Moravian culture, surrounded by lush countryside. The twin spires of the hilltop Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul dominate the neighbouring Bishops Palace, while the nearby square houses the Moravia Museum and Reduta Theatre, both the oldest in the country.

Beneath the square is Brno Underground, a maze of medieval tunnels and cellars that once housed wine produced in the surrounding region. There is an annual wine festival here, but the largest event is the Ignis Brunensis fireworks competition by Brno Lake to the north-west, lined by trees that hide Veveří Castle.

A less grand castle - Špilberk - sits on a hill in the city centre. At its feet is Masaryk University, the 2nd largest in the Czech Republic. The city’s Mendel University is named after the genetics founder who was abbot of St Thomas’ Abbey, where a museum commemorates his work.

The nearby Brno Exhibition Centre is of functionalist design, but the most important example of this architectural style is UNESCO World Heritage-listed Villa Tugendhat. On the opposite side of the city is Masaryk Circuit, home of the Czech MotoGP.

    Brno is a must town to visit in Czech republic. The old town is small but fool of fine buidings, churches, restaurants, etc. We ate at Stopkova Plzeňská Pivnice and we recommande the place. The atmosphere is pleasant and the dishes are various and delicious.

    As I live in Vienna, I have been to Brno several times for short trips and long weekends, however I always find something new to do or see. The selection of restaurants and coffee shops is excellent. The people are very friendly, many speaking English.

    Interesting to see the second largest city after Prague.

    Interesting to see the second largest city after Prague. City is clean, and nice old buildings, and magnificent churches. But, Spilberk Castle does not have any English guided tour, thus we did not buy the ticket :(

    Our stay at OREA Congress Hotel Brno was excellent. The location is very convenient, close to the city center, and ideal for both business and leisure travelers. The rooms are clean, spacious, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and relaxing stay. The staff were friendly, professional, and attentive to our needs, making us feel welcome from check-in to check-out. Breakfast offered a great variety and quality, and the hotel facilities were modern and well-kept. Overall, we highly recommend OREA Congress Hotel Brno for anyone visiting the city – great value, excellent service, and a very comfortable stay.

    Lovely young city filled with a charming city center, great bars, coffee bars and restaurants. Quite similar to the capital but without the tourists. Brno is a lovely city for at least an overnight.

    The apartment exceeded our expectations. It had everything a typical home apartment has: kitchen with all the necessary equipment and utensils, shower, washing machine, lots of storage space, couple of desks, a lovely terrace. There was also a secure parking spot. The best thing was super quick access to the city centre by public transport. Cheap and only takes about 15 mins. Great for longer stays and business trips!

    The hotel is real value for money you get a double room with breakfast included for nearly half the price of the other hotels. The staff were very friendly always with a smile and always ready to help. The breakfast was good with all my nutritional requirements included. The hotel is located near the city centre which is couple of minutes walking away. You can also take the tram if you don't want to walk.

    The hotel was good with clean and comfortable rooms. It was even better than expected. The hotel was in a prime location, easy access to public transportation and close to most of the major attractions. There were great restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely stay there again. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Brno, Czech Republic.

    Probably the best located accommodation in Brno city centre, perfect for a few days stay. The breakfast is perfectly adequate, and there's one of the best beer bars in town below the accommodation. No noise or smell from there in the accommodation. The hotel and pub staff are friendly and helpful.

    The atmoshphere of the hotel is nice and professional. They offered a variety of options for breakfast and thanks to only needing to check out until 12, no rush was needed in the morning. It was easy to walk to the city centre.
