Vidin is located in the far northeast part of Bulgaria and reaching it is a bit of a challenge due to the poor infrastructure but the town offers interesting places to visit as well as good dining options. The Baba Vida fortress is a must see - the most well preserved medieval fortress in the whole of Bulgaria. The Belogradchik Rocks are a phenomenal natural wonder that is worth the drive from Vidin. Vidin is a charming small city.
Vidin is a charming small city. The park, architectural and historical monuments, and the art museum provide interesting sights for 2-3 days. Just sitting in the park along the Danube watching the river traffic is a relaxing time. Nice town with lively promenade/park along the Danube. Fortress "Baba Vida" has a long history, had historically withstood sieges, and served as home base for regional rulers. The rather small city has a lot to offer and same is valid for the areas in vicinity (max 60-80 km). Very nice natural objectives (caves and mountain trails) but also a lot of historical objectives (fortresses, churches, etc).
