Set in the jungle near Tulum, there are three pools, and a gorgeous green lagoon with bar and food service and extremely comfortable lounging, paddle boards and kayaks. We did both tours with the amazing Gonzo; Cenote underground water tour and the Mayan Village Tour on bikes. These were the highlights of our vacation so do not miss -- our older teens just loved them! During our stay we saw iguanas, bats, giant spiders, and a boa constrictor. Note, there were no crocs in the lagoon! There were three options for the included breakfast (plus a fruit bowl, granola, honey and yogurt, coffee and a fresh juice). Options were pancakes or waffles with maple syrup, eggs and bacon with salad, or a traditional Mexican chiquillies with an egg and green or red salsa. Each of our family had a different preference for breakfast which we enjoyed. Breakfast was so filling we could last until late afternoon until our next meal. As we had rented a car we visited nearby Akumal and Puerto Aventuras for meals (another traveler recommended AVIS for car rental). We spent four nights at Wakax. If you have a car, I suggest a three night stay so you can do both tours. BTW, if you have claustrophobia you may not like the cenote tour. The bikes are great fun, staff and owners are very friendly, the rooms are huge and right out of a glossy travel magazine, and the setting is out of this world!

Everything about Hotel Ma'xanab was incredible. The rooms, staff, property was amazing. The staff especially were so attentive and happy. One day we were late for a dinner reservation since we had a guided tour of Chicken Itza and my whats app wasnt working so I couldn't contact the hotel or the restaurant we had a reservation to let them know we would be at least 40 minutes late. When we returned the front desk had already called our restaurant letting them know we were running late and to hold our table. Truly top service! The beach lounge beds were amazing as well and wonderful to not have to worry about getting day bed since there is one for every. Amazing experience

Everything! The hotel and the rooms are beautiful and comfortable, the location is perfect, and the breakfast is delicious. The staff were really kind and made our stay even better, as well as the two dogs belonging to the owners. Los Arrecifes was our favourite part about our stay in Tulum and would highly recommend to anyone.

Breakfast was amazing, the setting is gorgeous and all of the various artwork was just beautiful (and we aren't an arty family) but all the little touches made this a really great place to stay.

This hotel is located on one of the nicest beaches in Tulum, Mexico. The hotel offers a secluded location, guest rooms with free WiFi, an on-site restaurant and the Ziggy's Beach Club.

Everything!! 1. The staff - amazing, never met any assistance and hospitality as we did here.. whenever I asked for anything , day or night, rapid response straight away, whatever I was asking for - rightaway, always free of charge, with a smile on a face. Any help with finding extra services outside the hotel - they are there to help. We were in three other hotels around and in Tulúm, and even though 5* - they were not so keen on helping out, always we were there on our own to investigate services outside the hotel. 2. Hotel - clean, cosy, beautiful design, nice music, the accessories , the gym, the pool, and our beachfront ground floor room - everything amazing. Warm water in our pool, ideal for the evenings and sunrise experience. Super comfy bed, delicious coffee, beautiful toilet, super relaxation area by the beach. 3. The food - OMG, best breakfasts ever in Fresco restaurant, and the second restaurant Ziggy’s - one of the best in whole Tulum!! Must try the Tuna Nachos, and the burger.. 4. Very good location, although there are many hotels near by, this one (and TheBeach) has its own intimate , palm beach, silence, and cleaningness, close everywhere, walking distance. Neighbourhood hotels do not give this tropical experience.

We had a great stay! The property and apartment are beautiful, and our kids really enjoyed both pools. The public beach in Akumal is just a short drive away – overall, the apartment is perfect for guests with a car. Without one, it might be a bit less convenient. All in all, a wonderful stay – likely not our last!
