We stayed in the new expansion building with private onsen on the balcony. The room was clean, cozy and new. Private onsen with the mountain view was such a treat. It’s in a nice and quiet location. The owner was very kind and friendly. He made sure we were safe and had everything we needed when the worst storm hit Kirishima. Highly recommend this place if you are visiting the area or looking for a relaxing base for visiting the national park and Kagoshima.

There’s only about 10 cabins which is nice. It was very peaceful. We used this as a launch pad to other places and onsens in the kirishima area too.

A recently renovated homestay set in Kirishima, Boss'sHouse 犬ok 1組限定の宿 features a garden. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. Boss's house is the best! Beds are comfy and water pressure is very good and Haruka makes delicious food even had soy milk for our coffee and really thought of everything for us. Her English is good and you can feel at ease at Boss's House. Her dad is very nice and even played us some traditional Okinawa music. If you want a real Japanese host experience we can not recommend it highly enough. Just understand this is home in the middle of quiet street nothing is walkable so we had haruka pick us up and drop us off at airport which was seemless experience but does cost extra but it is totally worth it as taxis can be difficult to find or guide to this location. Haruka communication with us before our trip was above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. We loved our stay on our way to Yakushima Island as a one night layover.

Live here like local Japanese do features a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 40 km of Kagoshima Chuo Station and 41 km of Kagoshima Station. Yuki was a wonderful host and there were just the right amount of amenities for a comfortable stay. I traveled here with my 7 year old son, and he liked the tatami room and the foot onsen, as well as the bath indoors too. Thank you!
