This B & B is in a private home, not all that easy to locate, and there is no personal contact with the owner as all your instructions to enter etc were by text. It was beautifully presented and gave us a comfortable night

Fabulous location - 5 minutes drive from the town yet secluded enough to feel like you are in the wilderness. The wood fireplace was extra special and the bed had the most comfortable doona that was warm but so lightweight it made you just want to cocoon. The design of the cabin was well thought out and you wondered how they managed to place all
amenities in such an organised way. Sam the manager was extra helpful and friendly . We organised a fishing tour with Tim who went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience.

The place is lovely and in the middle of nature, the best we had on our 10 days trip on the south island. We stayed in 'Tom's hut', this is detached from the main building but right next to it. The hut is very cosy and the heating is very strong. We also really liked the common areas with the big kitchen and the fireplace with firewood. While staying there, we hiked across the farm and beyond on land that's not public to enjoy the beautiful scenery, a unique experience. Thanks Alana for being so helpful and for her kids showing us the farm animals :)

We we very disappointed with our stay and would only recommend it as a last resort.
The room was clean and adequate, but was small and pokey, and the long hallways narrow. The view was partially obscured by other buildings.
The hotel restaurant is closed at night, so no in house bar or food.
We found an excellent restaurant in front of the lake.
Overall ,overpriced and barely adequate… there must be somewhere better?

I have been going there since 1987 and it has never lost its charm. The lake is a beautiful turquoise colour. Mount John is a great place to see the Southern Alps. Mount Cook is nearby. There is a ski field in winter. It is an easy drive from Queenstown or Christchurch.

Great place to visit beautiful view.
Great place to visit beautiful view. Colour photos turn out fantastic due to lighting, lake environment colours. Sky at night best I've seen. Rented large house for our family gathering. In advance Contacted Four Square Tekapo they offered to cook chickens, make vegetarian dish, supplied all our food. Also made salads supplied breads, deserts, drinks. We were so pleased with the service this store provided. Perfect. Would of loved to stay longer.

Lake Tekapo is beautiful and very relaxing but only needs a couple of days to be seen thoroughly.
There's a pleasant, flat walk along and above the shoreline that's not too taxing for younger children and there are trails and hot spring pools for older kids/adults. There's also mini golf or ice skating, depending on what time of the year you go.
Shops are very limited and those available are overpriced - if you are staying self-catered, try to bring food with you or eat out. Thoroughly recommend 25 degree - they don't take bookings so you'll need to get there as they open (for dinner) or be prepared to wait/come back later.
Another downside is the inconsiderate behaviour of some of the other tourists - if you're trying to get any decent photos of the Good Shepherd church or stars, you'll need to go very early/very late or find a secluded place for night photos. Some people seemed unaware that this is a spot for limited light so had car headlights on full whilst sitting outside the church - which made our photographers trip a bit wasted.

Lake Tekapo is a lovely town with beautiful views of the mountains and lakes. Lots of lovely walking trails and places to explore in and around the lakes.
There are great cycling trails in the area too.
Mountain Cook in only a short distance away.
There are hot springs and pools to visit and great places to eat at.
The view of Lake Tekapo is simply stunning! We loved that the sliding doors to the balcony could be opened so wide. Parking is available on the street adjacent to the studio. The studio quite spacious and very clean. The bathroom had a heater, which was so nice to experience after a day of hiking! It's a <10 minute walk to the town center. Check in was also very easy. The woman who checked us in was warm and friendly. It was also convenient that the kitchenette had a large counter space as well as plates, glasses, and utensils for use.
We stayed in the West apartment. Fantastic space with an elevated position and a spectacular view of Lake Tekapo. Well designed, clean and comfortable, this modern 2-bedroom unit with expansive deck is a great place to stay for 2 couples traveling together. The fireplace was a nice addition for chilly evenings. The apartment is about a 3-minute drive to the supermarket, shops and restaurants of Lake Tekapo and about an hour from Aoraki Mt. Cook National Park. Very quiet neighborhood. Ample parking. Highly recommended.
This is probably my best stay ever in Tekapo, comparing to my previous stay in hotels/motels.
Location - very close to town centre
Kitchen - great kitchen with gas stoves and a big oven
Dining room & lounge - open design with a large dining table
Rooms - very comfortable
* Balcony - this is the highlight of this property. Instead of heading to the lake side, we could easily turn off the lights and sit comfortably on the couch on the balcony to enjoy the night and stargazing.
Beautiful one bedroom apartment with stunning 180 views of Lake Tekapo.. The apartment is upgraded with little details that just adds extra comfort feeling like home.. heated floors, wide balcony, and open roof for stargazing were the highlights. Its beautiful than the pics on the listing.
Amazing host too and timely communication. Will definitely be coming back for this airbnb..
Thanks Kaori and Ban.
The best view of Lake Tekapo in town! Huge picture windows in the communal kitchen and dining room; upstairs loft area with same views plus two outside decks; right on a grassy park that slopes down to the lake. Easy access to groceries, restaurants, the beach, The Dark Sky Project. We had an ensuite room with a large bathroom. The common areas were well kept.
Lake Tekapo, and the Lakes Holiday Park are stunning. The Park is well laid out, friendly service and in a great location.
The cabin we stayed in was excellent, very comfy and warm, and just a few steps down to the lake. Even better to sit outside at the outdoor table to enjoy the evening and view the full moon.
A modern hotel with stylish interior design. The complimentary breakfast was very adequate and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The view of Lake Tekapo from our room was beautiful and the hotel is in a very convenient position. We look forward to staying at the Galaxy next time we stay in Tekapo.
Really felt looked after, pleasant real old school Kiwis own this, & you felt like a guest, rather than a number. It has large rooms, the bathrooms are really private unlike most cubical backpackers, you get a whole bathroom to yourself.
Location good , near to lake shore, supermarket and restaurants. Bed comfortable and decent pressure & heat in shower. Partial lake views ( but sadly much reduced by Dark Sky Project & Backpackers buildings recently built in front).
The convenient location was a great starting point for all Lake Tekapo activities. The hot tub was lovely, the underfloor heating in the bathroom was divine and the entire apartment was warm and comfortable.
Great views over Lake Tekapo from all over the apartment. Well equipped with everything you need. This was a good location to visit Mount Cook National Park and the surrounding area, would stay again!
